Two Donegal charities are sharing in the massive €3.6million fund raised by RTÉ’s Toy Show Appeal last Christmas.
The Donegal Rape Crisis Centre and Liquid Therapy are among the 100+ charities to benefit from the major appeal, which touches the hearts of people across the nation each Christmas.
€16,000 has been allocated to Donegal Rape Crisis creative arts therapies for 12- 18 year olds affected by the trauma of sexual violence and their loved ones.
€18,000 will go towards increasing the capacity of summer programmes and services at Liquid Therapy which will enable more individuals, families and community groups to experience the therapeutic benefits of the big blue sea.
The Toy Show appeal is also supporting many national charity initiatives that will benefit children in Donegal such as the Irish Cancer Society, BUMBLEance, Special Olympics Ireland, Belong To LGBTQ+ Youth Ireland and more.
Denise Charlton, Chief Executive of Community Foundation Ireland said: “Children’s lives in every county are about to be transformed thanks to the huge generosity of RTÉ Late Late Toy Show viewers and the Toy Show Appeal. Colour, excitement and joy are being introduced into so many young lives including those living with illness and disability. Protection and safety will also be provided to those living with bullying, in violent homes and facing abuse. The Community Foundation is a proud partner of RTÉ in realising the vision of viewers to support children across Ireland.”
