Huge drama as Devine takes Donegal Rally lead, Edwards hits wall

The second stage of the final day of the Donegal International Rally did not disappoint on the drama front.

Welsh driver Matt Edwards, who has led the field all the way from the midway point of day 1 got into big trouble on the first journey through Atlantic Drive this afternoon on stage 16.

Edwards made heavy contact with a wall, causing a decent chunk of damage to his Ford Focus as he had to crawl to the stage end off the pace.

That means that Derry man Callum Devine has now grabbed the overall lead of the rally, after he set the second-fastest time on S16.

Edwards now sits third, 44 seconds behind Devine and has to make his way through Fanad Head with severe damage before he can reach service and get his car repaired.
