The HSE says part of its plan to navigate through the Donegal Rally’s large crowds and traffic congestion will be through the use of a motorcycle unit.
They’ve announced today that the National Ambulance Service will be bringing its motorcycle unit to Donegal this weekend ahead of the rally.
According to the HSE, the “agility and speed” in traffic of the motorbike unit will help them “navigate through traffic more efficiently than traditional ambulances.”
Traffic congestion particularly in Letterkenny has been a massive concern pre-rally, with traditional ambulances facing potential road blockages on the Four Lanes route into the town and elsewhere.
The HSE say that the ability to bring in a more mobile ambulance unit is “…particularly crucial during large-scale events like the Donegal International Rally, where congested roads can pose significant challenges to emergency medical services.”
“By utilizing the motorbike unit, the NAS hopes to reduce response times and provide timely medical assistance to those in need. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to improving emergency services and ensuring the highest standards of care.”
“We urge all attendees to remain vigilant and prioritize safety throughout the event. The NAS will have a robust presence on the ground, ready to respond to any emergencies that may arise.”
