Lough Swilly RNLI volunteers were called to the aid of a yacht struggling to moor in challenging weather conditions near Portsalon this morning.
Malin Head Coastguard Radio contacted the RNLI at 10:23 am, prompting the launch of the All Weather Lifeboat from Buncrana Pier. The volunteer crew swiftly reached the yacht, where two people were on board.
The RNLI team helped secure the yacht. Once they ensured the safety of both the vessel and the crew, they returned to Buncrana, where they refuelled and prepared for their next mission.
“Remember if you see someone in difficulty in or on the water, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard,” a spokesperson said.
