Their force in the polls has the 100% Redress Party thinking beyond the Council Chamber.
Voters have put their call for change, and a plea for their homes, into brand new hands and elected four out of the six candidates from the new party.
Before the recount was called at 1.30am, Tomás Seán Devine took the third seat in a competitive Letterkenny LEA.
The campaigner and soon to be councillor says the people’s demands are clear.
“With our votes we could be up around 7-8,000 and now it’s time to start thinking about the General Election,” he told Donegal Daily.
Watch here:
Ali Farren topped the poll in Carndonagh, Joy Beard made it over the quota in Buncrana and Denis McGee made it through on the final count in Glenties.
Devine paid tribute to his two running colleagues Eamonn Jackson in Milford and Charles Ward in Lifford-Stranorlar who didn’t make it over the line but made impressive headway as newcomers.
“It’s been hard work and I can’t thank people enough for coming out to vote, we felt let down for far too long,” he said.
Tomás Seán Devine, a Letterkenny resident for 20+ years and father of five, pledges to stand for more than the DCB crisis, himself a father of a child with disabilities.
“We will fight for every issue for everybody and we’ll do our darn hardest.”
