MILFORD COUNT (1PM): The three-seater Milford LEA has a new frontrunner in Declan Meehan, with the Independent candidate winning yesterday’s tally.
Meehan tripled his vote to 1,712 (21%) from his first outing in the local elections five years ago.
As counting takes place in the Aura this morning, it’s the third seat that’s currently up in the air.
Fianna Fáil stalwart Liam Blaney tallied well with 18.8% of the overall tally count.
The race will be on for that third seat, and it’s due to be between John O’Donnell (IND) and Pauric McGarvey (IND). The tally count revealed more than 2,000 votes to be transferred.
At the same time, the quota is over 2,000 and McGarvey is said to be transferring well. But it’s all to play for.
