MILFORD: Fianna Fáil stalwart Liam Blaney and Independent Pauric McGarvey have been elected to the Milford Municipal District, completing the three-seat district with Declan Meehan (IND).
Blaney is now 21 years in local government, and he’s looking forward to working with the newcomers – poll topper Meehan and relative newcomer McGarvey – to give the area what it deserves.
Defective blocks is a crisis that Blaney says will rear its head even more in the Milford region.
On the rise of the 100% Redress Party, he said it will be a joint effort in the Lifford Chamber: “It’s been said all along that we have been doing nothing, we have been doing all we can especially Fianna Fáil, time after time, getting something extra every time. Whenever they are councillors themselves they will it’s not easy. We’ll all keep at it.”

Pauric McGarvey, elected in third place, is delighted to have a seat to his own name.
The Rathmullan native was co-opted onto the Donegal County Council in February 2023, taking over from his uncle Ian McGarvey who was Ireland’s oldest public representative and served in the Donegal County Council for 18 years.
On his election today, he said: “The last 15 months I spent building a relationship with the council, I have that under my belt and I have five years now to prove myself.”
