Ali Farren topped the poll in the Carndonagh Electoral Area as the 100% Redress party claimed a second seat in Inishowen.

A total of four parties claimed the four seats in this constituency.

Martin McDermott of Fianna Fail also sailed in and held into his seat as did Albert Doherty of Sinn Fein.

It was a real battle for the last seat but Martin Farren from the Labour Party managed to hold onto his seat and hold off the challenge of sitting councillor Johnny McGuinness.

It was a sad moment for McGuinness who worked tirelessly to serve the people of Inishowen and to hold onto the seat of his late father Bernard McGuinness.

Special tributes were paid to Niamh McGuinness who polled over 900 votes.
