Donegal 1-13 v 3-12 Kildare
Donegal’s Minor footballers fell at the semi-final stage of the Tier 2 All-Ireland Minor Championships this afternoon in Clones.
Despite missing a number of their first-choice options, Donegal gave a good account of themselves in a tightly-contested game.
Donegal got off to a good start, quickly building a three point lead within 10 minutes – but that would be quickly undone by two quickfire Kildare goals in the space of a minute, Finn Dowling and Paddy Ryan netting.
Kildare would lead 2-5 to 0-7 at the half.
Both teams traded points to start the second half, before a Conor McCahill free would be bundled in by Luke McGuinness to give Donegal a route back, as they trailed by just a point.
However as time dwindled down, Kildare were able to make the most of a 45′ as Paddy Ryan broke on the ball to hit Kildare’s third goal of the game and put things out of reach for Donegal.
