The 100% Redress Party is the success story of Inishowen in today’s tallies as both Buncrana and Carndonagh have candidates poised to take seats in Lifford.
Joy Beard, who has the second highest first preference votes in Buncrana, is ready to speak up for families.
Beard, who moved to Inishowen in 2007, is a defective concrete block homeowner and a longtime campaigner.
Beard said the voting figures show how much the issue is affecting people’s lives, and how they feel about the representation in the council.
“We didn’t have a big enough voice in there for the biggest crisis,” Joy said, on her decision to run for local election.
“The government is not going far enough for families. They are ignoring the science, the standard at the heart of this, the IS 465 which only tests for Mica is wrong, the results are there and they are not listening to them. It’s time they sat up and listened and hopefully we will be that voice to make them listen.”
