The Lough Swilly RNLI were in action on Monday evening after a yacht with three people on board got into difficulty near Fahan marina.
The RNLI volunteers received the call-out from Malin Head Coastguard Radio at 9:22 pm.
The volunteer crew launched the Inshore Lifeboat from Ned’s Point and swiftly reached the vessel. They assisted in deploying the yacht’s anchor to secure it and then safely transferred all three crew members to the marina.
Following the rescue, the RNLI crew returned to Ned’s Point, where they refueled and prepared their lifeboat for their next mission. The yacht itself was successfully recovered yesterday afternoon.
The Lough Swilly RNLI reminds everyone that if you see someone in difficulty on the water, you should immediately call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
