Major works have commenced in a notorious blackspot of the N14 Lifford-Manorcunningham road.
The project, expected to take 24 weeks, will widen, strengthen and resurface a 2.24km stretch of road known as the ‘bad bends’ between Dromore and Feddyglass.
Lifford Cllr Gerry Crawford, welcoming the commencement of works, said: “This area has for many years been the subject of representations pointing out the dangers and demanding action to improve road safety.
“I would urge caution and patience from all road users during the duration of the improvement works.”
The contract has been awarded to Whitemountain Quarries Ltd and involves verge widening, Vehicle Restraint System installation, drainage, utility works and all associated civil works.
