Here are all of the results and match reports from week 10 of the Donegal Women’s League.
Under 12
Group 1
Bonagee United 0 – 3 Letterkenny Rovers
Bonagee and Letterkenny Rovers played a very sporting game at Leck View. Rovers secured the win through a hattrick scored by Caitlin Mc Brearty. Bonagee created numerous chances and kept the Rovers keepers Adrianna and Lily busy throughout the game. The Bonagee U11 keeper Amelia Gallagher was undoubtedly player of the match she constantly denied rovers from adding to their tally with some outstanding saves. This young Bonagee side has gained invaluable experience in this first phase of games and look forward to the next phase. Thanks to rovers for hosting the game and to the referee Sinead Hagan.
Ballyraine Harps 2 – 1 Lagan Harps
Ballyraine left it late at Errigal College on Monday evening, with two late goals from inform Maria Wenelska securing all three points against a very good Lagan Harps side. The home side started well, but an early counterattack from the visitors after 4 minutes saw Emily McMahon race clear of the Ballyraine defence and place an excellent finish into the corner of the net. Ballyraine keeper Holly Gordon got down well but her touch at full stretch wasn’t enough to take the ball round the post. Ballyraine responded well, despite playing into a stiff wind, and created several chances with Cassie Diffley, Hanna Carty and Maria Wenelska all going close, but a superb performance from Ella Rose Sharkey in the Lagan goal kept her side in front. Lagan pushed back just before the break and came close to doubling their lead against the run of play when a snap shot from McMahon came back off the upright. Ballyraine pressed hard after the break but the visitors, inspired by Sharkey in goal, held firm despite Cate Lannon, Millie Toland and Wenelska all going close. However, Maria wasn’t taking no for an answer, and having been a constant threat on the left wing, scored a superb equaliser with just two minutes left. Picking up the ball on the left wing, just inside her own half, she set off on a mazy dribble, shaking off several challenges to break into the penalty box and finish to the top corner. And she wasn’t done there, as with the game entering “Fergie time” she broke free of the Lagan rearguard again to smash home a stunning late winner. Ballyraine were probably good value for the win having been on top for long periods despite leaving the scoring till the death, however the visitors will be disappointed that their fine defensive efforts were undone late in the day.
Group 2
Donegal Town 2 – 2 Letterbarrow Celtic
Donegal Town and Letterbarrow played out a very entertaining 2-2 draw in the Hospital Field, The Town started well having plenty of possession and forcing a lot of corners, but Letterbarrow defended well. Town took the lead 10 mins before the break when Emmy Byrne finished nicely after a through ball and it finished 1-0 at halftime. The second half started much the same with town having a lot of possession, but Letterbarrow defended well and got their reward after a great break from Taylor McGinty. Town thought they had won it when Isla scored from a corner however Letterbarrow never gave up and Taylor scored again after a great run and finish to leave the final score 2-2. Avery entertaining game with girls from both teams playing some excellent football. Well done all.
Group 3

Kildrum Tigers 0 – 3 Finn Valley A
Kildrum Tigers U12 girls were in action tonight at home. We had the pleasure of hosting Finn Valley WFC this week. Finn valley put on a very dominant display of football with excellent passes of play resulting in some fantastic goals. Kildrum fought hard for the entire match but just could not reach the superb level of the Finn Valley girls. Full time score was 0-3 Congratulations to the Finn Valley ladies and their coaches on a great win, it was our pleasure to have you at station Road. Thanks also to the referee Daniel Carlin.
Group 5
Milford United 4 – 0 Swilly Rovers
Kilmacrennan Celtic 3 – 1 Glenree
On a perfect evening for football, Lurgy Park was the venue as Kilmacrennan hosted Glenree and the large crowd in attendance were treated to a very good game of football. The home team started the brighter of the two teams and were rewarded 5 minutes in when striker Caidhla fired home an excellent goal from just inside the box after a strong run from midfield by Hayley. Glenree striker Eilis O Connell was a constant threat all evening and after 10 minutes her run and shot was screamed out for a corner by the excellent Aynee mc Mullan. With 20 minutes on the clock the home team scored again and again it was Caidhla hitting the net with another super strike from distance to continue her excellent goalscoring exploits. Two minutes later it was 3 – 0, midfielder Hayley, who was excellent all evening, weaved her way through several tackles before calmly slotting home to leave it 3 – 0 at the break. Kilmacrennan continued to dominate proceedings in the 2nd half and had a chance to extend their lead when impressive winger Mia Shields was brought down inside the box but unfortunately the resulting penalty failed to find the net. Glenree to their credit continued to battle for every ball and got their reward on 50 minutes when the home defence failed to clear a free kick and Mia McGettigan poked home from close range for a goal their efforts deserved. A strong home performance with Isla, Aynee, Hayley, Jorjamae and Caidhla impressing with Eilis and Leah Harkin performing well for the visitors. A really enjoyable game with referee Rory O Gorman having a good game in the middle.
