Six people have been arrested across Donegal so far over the Bank Holiday Weekend for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
Three of those arrest were for suspected drink-driving and another three for drug-driving over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed the level of arrests are down but noted that traffic was quieter on Donegal’s roads compared to normal Bank Holiday Weekends.
A total of 137 motorists have been arrested so far across the country this Bank Holiday weekend for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
Gardai say checkpoints will continue on Donegal’s roads as part of the Bank Holiday clampdown today and overnight.
A spokesperson appealed for drivers to remain vigilant across the Bank Holiday period with many of those who traveled to and from Donegal returning this evening.
