An Emmy award winning travel show from the US has been filming part of their new series in County Donegal.
The widely popular PBS show Bare Feet with Mickela Mallozzi has been filming for its seventh series recently around the Wild Atlantic Way, including a number of stops along the Donegal coastline.
Mickela Mallozzi is the producer and host of the series and the show follows her travels around the world. What makes the show unique is that Mickela explores and highlights some of the cultural and dance traditions of each destination she visits.
Over 2 million people watch the series in the US, and three episodes in the next series will be entirely based in Ireland.
In Donegal, Mickela and her crew filmed in Ardara village and Maghery Strand. They also filmed a trad session at The Glen Tavern – Dinny’s, Mickela enjoying the award-winning seafood chowder at Nancy’s Barn in Ballyliffin and cycling on Malin Head, with electric bikes from GrassRoutes Electric Bike Adventures. The crew stayed in Teac Jack in Glassagh.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “We are delighted that Bare Feet with Mickela Mallozzi is filming in the North West this week. It’s a wonderful opportunity to highlight our beautiful scenery, our rich music and dance traditions, as well as some of the many things to see and do here, to a huge audience across the US. The publicity value of a TV programme like this is immense – it is an excellent way of shining a spotlight on Ireland, inspiring prospective American holidaymakers to come and experience the destination for themselves.”
