The latest luxury cruise liner has just docked in Killybegs this morning.
The SH Vega is a 5-star expedition ship designed to travel to remote regions such as the Arctic and Antarctic.
Its ice-strengthened hull ensures it is ready to tackle the challenging and ever-changing icy polar waters.
The SH Vega is one of the vessels visiting Killybegs over the summer months that are regarded as ‘expedition’ ships, with smaller numbers of staff and passengers on board.
It will leave port again this evening between 5pm and 5:30pm, however, not before its 152 passengers and 120 crew take a look around Ireland’s premier fishing port and visit its shops and restaurants.
This year, a total of 19,757 passengers are due to visit Killybegs from the beginning of May until September 17th next.
Once again, the increasing number of ships to stop off enroute to various destinations will provide a much welcome tourism injection for the local community.
The biggest number of staff and passengers arrived on the Norwegian Star last month.
Between staff and passengers, the ship boasted an impressive combined total of 3,379 people made up of 1,031 staff and 2,348 passengers.
