A drunk woman who was aggressive to staff at Letterkenny University Hospital has been fined €150.
Maureen Wallace, 49, appeared at Letterkenny District Court following the incident on June 24th, 2023.
Garda Anthony Marron told the court that Wallis had been lifted “at the side of the road” area by Gardai and taken for treatment to the hospital.
Ms Wallace with an address at Cois Locha, Dungloe, was belligerent while speaking to paramedics.
Gardai spoke to her and she agreed to have treatment.
However, Gardai were called back to the hospital at 5.36pm and found Ms Wallace more aggressive to staff and despite their best efforts she was refusing medical attention.
At one stage the accused woman tried to leave the hospital and said she was walking home to Dungloe.
Garda Marron said he had no option at 6.05pm to arrest Ms Wallace and she was later released.
She was charged that she was present in a public place while intoxicated to such an extent as would give rise to a reasonable apprehension that she might endanger herself or any other person in her vicinity.
The charge was Contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act , 1994, as amended by Section 22 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2008.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins said Ms Wallace has a number of previous convictions but they are for road traffic offences and none for public order.
Judge Eiteain Cunningham found the facts proven, fined Ms Wallace €150 and allowed her five months to pay.
