Donegal Gardaí have issued an appeal to road users ahead of the busy June Bank Holiday weekend.
Bank Holidays bring a higher volume of traffic onto the roads and with this comes an increased risk of collisions.
“We ask all road users to please use the roads responsibly,” Garda Sergeant Eunan Walsh said.
“Drivers are urged to slow down, wear their seatbelt, and not to drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Do not use/hold your mobile phone while driving.”
Remember also, if you have been drinking you may not be safe to drive the morning after. Don’t risk it!
Sgt Walsh also appealed to motorists to be always be on the look-out for cyclists and pedestrians and drive at a safe speed.
“As always, Gardaí will be out on the roads over the weekend conducting high visibility checkpoints and speed checks. We hope that everybody has a safe and an enjoyable Bank Holiday Weekend.”
