Declan Jordan from Lismonaghan, Letterkenny, has finally dived into the deep end of politics.
He has been on the canvas trail with his team as an Independent candidate in the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District for the past number of weeks.
His political style has been described as ‘Healy Rea-like’ in regards to his town of Letterkenny. Letterkenny is at the forefront of all his ideas.
A current employee of Letterkenny University Hospital, he knows all too well the effects of the current recruitment freeze on staff morale and patient waiting lists.
Declan is a grandson of former town councillor and former Senator’ James Larkin.
His can-do attitude is what people believe is the difference between him and the rest and a bit of youth is what everyone might just need.
Declan has based his whole campaign leaflet and easy watch videos via his social media channels around Letterkenny.
Declan is a big critic of the increase of the local property tax 6 months after the last local elections – Letterkenny received no extra funding in return. He has been actively asking the question as to what have we received for our money, especially while our homes are falling down around us with Mica?
Core Issues:
-Traffic
-Emergency services not having access through the Port Road
-Letterkenny Main Street / Lower Main Street
-Mica
-Lack of housing
-Letterkenny University Hospital
-Sport
-Creative Arts
-Lack of support in the hospitality sector
– Newmills boardwalk
These are issues he has highlighted on his leaflet and videos
Declan has committed to opening a weekly walk-in clinic in Letterkenny if elected for the general public to walk in and talk about their issues with him face to face.
