Donegal 0-21 v 0-14 Tyrone
Donegal got their All Ireland series campaign off to a brilliant start with a win over local rivals Tyrone in Ballybofey tonight.
Both sides showed plenty of attacking intent in an energetic first half, as Tyrone looked to avenge their Ulster Championship semi-final defeat.
Donegal were able to edge a point ahead at the half time break however, several scores from Oisin Gallen upfront the highlight.
In the second half Donegal were then able to use the wind to their advantage, stringing off a number of scores in quick succession that was capped off with a brilliant Ciaran Thompson score to take their lead to five points.
Tyrone would battle back briefly to bring the gap down to three, but down the stretch Donegal would put their foot to the floor to stamp their authority on the tie.
Besting Tyrone by six scores to one in the last fifteen minutes of play, Jim McGuinness’ men planted Donegal’s flag firmly in the ground as All Ireland contenders with this performance.
