The talented Conwal Singers will host a very special concert this weekend in Letterkenny.
The event will take place on Saturday in Conwal Parish Church at 7.30pm, featuring wonderful music and composers such as Eric Whitacre, Johann Sebastian Bach, Tomas Luis de Victoria and Daniel Elder.
“We are delighted to sing with The Hepton Singers who are visiting all the way from the West Yorkshire town of Hebden Bridge, which is nestled in the heart of the Pennines in the North of England,” a spokesperson for the group said.
Currently under the direction of Richard Bunzl, the choir began 50 years ago. Since then, it has performed as far afield as Sorrento in Italy, Aachen in Germany and Budapest in Hungary. A choir after our own hearts, the Hepton Singers has built up a reputation for commissioning new works, performing contemporary choral music, while also performing classics from the a capella choral repertoire from Tallis to Bruckner and beyond.
Also joining us on the evening is the The Inishowen Harp Ensemble, a group of harpists of all ages who showcase Inishowen’s rich musical heritage, as well as music from the ancient harping tradition of Ireland and more contemporary harp and Irish compositions and arrangements. They are led under the musical direction of Lauren O’Neill and Joleen McLaughlin and management of Clodagh Warnock of Ceolan School of Music, Moville.
Admission at the door €10/€5.
