Fianna Fail Councillor, Gerry Crawford, is a candidate in the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District (MD) in the upcoming Local Elections in June.
First elected to Donegal County Council in 1999, his motto is ‘Experience Counts.’
A native of Ballindrait, Lifford, the former Ambulance Paramedic was also Mayor of the council in 2008/2009. He is a member of the important HSE West Forum.
He is fully committed to the Lifford Community Hospital project and the Defective Concrete Blocks campaign as well as a host of other important issues listed below:
Married to Adrienne, from Tober, Ballindrait, the couple have 3 sons, 2 daughters and Gerry is a well-known former Ambulance Paramedic, with 34 years service.
Defective concrete blocks are a major concern to all of us. I will continue to raise this concern at every opportunity.
I will lobby for the provision of affordable housing, serviced sites, and also for increased road improvement funding.
I will continue to lobby on behalf of the various groups who seek my assistance and to stand up for rural communities in the
planning reviews.

“The Stranorlar Electoral Area also now includes Lifford, Stranorlar, Raphoe, Convoy, Porthall, St Johnston and surrounding rural areas.
“I am fully committed to the Lifford Community Hospital project which is now included in the HSE Capital Plan, which, when built, will be of immense benefit to the wider area including Raphoe, Convoy, St. Johnston and Finn Valley. I first proposed the purchase of this site in 2000.

• Persistence pays and after lobbying, the Council plan to build 60 houses at Lifford Common and 30 houses in St. Johnston and also the 28 houses in Gallows Lane, Lifford will be let shortly.
• The Coolatee Sewage Scheme is almost complete as is the new treatment plant in Lifford and the works are ongoing at Drumboy, which will end the problems existing in St. Judes Court and Hazelwood.
• Lifford/Castlefin Greenway recently opened. This will have an important benefit for the local communities.
• Raphoe Safe Route to School Project is now completed, the St. Johnson Safe Route to School is almost completed.Together these projects will change the experience of going to and from school to a safer manner.
• The Raphoe Town & Village Project is also complete.
