Several Donegal restaurants are coming back to the hills with their arms full today after big wins in the Irish Restaurant Awards.
The Olde Glen Bar was one of the national winners of the night, crowned as the Best Gastropub in Ireland. Downings Chef Ciarán Sweeney was also crowned the Best Chef in Ulster.
Donegal’s success continued with wins in other categories. Anne Cannon of La Bella Donna Restaurant in Donegal Town took home the Best Restaurant Manager in Ulster award, while Chandpur Indian Restaurant was named Ulster’s Best World Cuisine.
The Blue Goat artisan store and cafe in Ramelton, owned by Des Gallen, rounded out the local triumphs by being named the Ulster Innovator of the Year.
The All-Ireland final of Irish Restaurant Awards 2024 took place in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road on Monday where almost 1,200 of the Irish hospitality industry’s owners, chefs, managers and staff gathered to crown the best establishments from across the country.
In total, this year’s Irish Restaurant Awards – the 15th year of the Awards – received over 160,000 public nominations for restaurants, cafés and other food services establishments across the country – the highest number yet.
