A total of 91 candidates have thrown their hat in the ring for the upcoming local elections in Donegal.
Applications to run in the council elections closed at 12 noon today, with the final list of candidates set to be confirmed tomorrow afternoon by Donegal County Council after the window for candidates to withdraw has closed.
There are a total of 37 seats up for grabs across the five Municipal District Councils.
The biggest competition will be for one of the ten seats on the Letterkenny Milford Municipal District Council, with 27 total candidates in the running.
18 of those are running for the 7 seats in the Letterkenny Local Electoral Area, while 9 candidates will run for the 3 seats in the Milford LEA.
Elsewhere a total of 21 candidates are in the running for the 9 Inishowen MD seats.
There are 12 candidates running in the 5-seat Buncrana LEA, and 9 contenders for the 4 seats in the Carndonagh LEA.
Meanwhile there are 16 candidates in the running for the 6 seat Glenties MD, 15 candidates for 6 seats in the Donegal MD, and 12 candidates vying for the 6 seats in the Lifford-Stranorlar MD.
