Daniel Kearney (91) made the most of the good weather last week to get in a round at the picturesque Buncrana Golf Club.
The club’s most senior member, and Vice President, says the views from the course are second to none.
The Evan Doherty Open Stableford Results
The competition last weekend was an Open Stableford sponsored by Evan Doherty Milk
Buncrana. Once again the players found the fast greens and difficult pin positions hard to master as only ten players over the weekend managed to score higher than 36 pts or better. The winning score of 40 pts was returned by the evergreen John P. Mc Connell (12). John must have thought he threw the competition away as he had 38 pts with 2 holes to play and only managed 2 pts out of the last 2 holes. However John was unaware that he was not the only player finding it difficult as his 40 pts was 1 better than any of the other players could muster.
The full results of the Evan Doherty Milk Open Stableford played last Saturday and Sunday are as follows:
Overall/Cat 1 John P. Mc Connell (12) 40 pts
Gross Christopher Mc Callion (-2) 74 gross b.o.t.
Category 2 Seamus Coyle (17) 39 pts
Category 3 Mark Bradley (28) 37 pts
Best Day (Sun) Jamie Friel (14) 37 pts b.o.t.
Back 9 Anthony Mc Fadden (12) 21 pts

Drive It Home Draw
It is over 20 years since the clubhouse was built and it is now at the stage where it needs refurbished. The Buncrana Golf Club is not like the other big golf clubs as it is a community project and maintains the membership fees and green fees as low as possible to ensure everyone in the community and surrounding area can avail of a golfing facility at a reasonable cost. Because of this the club has very little funds available for any major developments and to raise funds for this clubhouse development a Major Prize Draw will be run. The Drive It Home Draw will have €41,000.00 in prizes with the main prize being a Hyundai i30 N-Line car valued at €30,000.00. The second prize will be €5,000.00, third €3,000.00, fourth €2,000.00 and fifth €1,000.00. The ticket will cost €25.00 each or 3 x tickets for €50.00 and 7 x tickets for €100.00.
As the clubhouse and the club facilities are used by various community organisations to hold meetings and raise funds for their respective groups, the club will be appealing to the whole community and surrounding area to support this Prize Draw. Please purchase a ticket to ensure the future of the Buncrana Golf Club for generations to come. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member, in the clubhouse, over the phone or online at driveithomedraw.ie
