Donegal 0-20 v 0-20 Armagh (AET)
Donegal win 6-5 on penalties
Donegal needed every single one of the 90 plus minutes it took to decide the 2024 Ulster Championship, as they sealed a nail-biting penalty shootout victory over Armagh in Clones.
Both sides were locked arm-in-arm throughout this fascinating contest, as the scores were even between the two sides a stunning twelve times across the match.
In the middle of the second half however Donegal looked like they had lost their legs, as Armagh stormed out of the dressing room to a lead that was as much as 4 points at one stage.
Jim McGuinness’ men never lost their nerve however, having to claw their way back from defecits both in normal and extra time.
In the end both sides were perfect with their first 5 penalties, but as soon as it entered sudden death it was once again Donegal goalkeeper Shaun Patton who made the difference, making a superb save to seal an unlikely Ulster Championship success.
Jimmy’s winning matches once again, and lifting trophies.
Donegal now have all the momentum they need to challenge for the Sam Maguire Cup once again – despite preseason doubts from many.
