A van driver has been arrested in the Buncrana area today after testing positive for cocaine.

Gardaí with the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit were conducting speed checkpoints today when they detected a van travelling at 124KPH in a speed zone of 100KPH.

The driver subsequently underwent a drug test, which resulted in a positive result for cocaine.

“Further test results are now awaited,” a garda spokesperson said.

“Never take risks on the roads. Slow down and never drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”
