The Arranmore RNLI has paid tribute to their former crew member, Bernard O’Donnell (Cook), who passed away at the weekend.

Mr O’Donnell died peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

“Our good friend, and a real gentleman, Bernard O’Donnell was a Fleet Mechanic with the RNLI for many years and travelled far and wide within Ireland and the UK before his retirement some years ago,” an RNLI spokesperson said.

“Our sincere condolences to all of his family, friends and past colleagues. Rest in Peace Bernard.”

The late Mr O’Donnell’s Funeral Mass took place in St Crone’s Church, Arranmore on Sunday. His remains will be donated to medical research at the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin.

He is survived by his sons Bernard John, Rory and Charles (Rebecca) and his grandchildren Claudia and Arthur and wife Marion, brothers John and Hugh, nieces, nephews and wider family circle.
