The Donegal International Car Push is making a triumphant comeback to Letterkenny this May for Relay for Life Donegal.
Just as they did in 2017 (and raised a huge amount of money in the process) the main car dealers in Donegal have once again joined forces and put their shoulders to the wheel in supporting Relay For Life Donegal by recreating the Donegal International Car Push on Thursday 23rd May at 7pm.
However, it won’t be their shoulders in fact because this year they have enlisted the super strong members of the local Gyms/Fitness Centres to do the pushing this time!
The combination of car dealers and gyms/fitness centres will push a car around the route, starting at the intersection between Divers Hyundai Garage and Connollys Garage (serious competition already underway even planning the route!!!) and will head out the Neil T.Blaney Road and turning left at the Joe Bonner Rd Traffic Lights, joining up again on the Port Rd., left at the Station House Roundabout , over past the Community Centre and back to the starting point again.
There’s furious debate ongoing about doing a second lap and already a new set of rules is being hastily drawn up!
To add to the excitement and fun, each dealer is organising a Rally Driver/Celebrity Driver to steer the car around the course and try to earn the bragging rights for 2024 for their dealership.
The main car dealers already signed up are Divers Hyundai, Hegartys Auto services, Connollys Garage, Highland Motors, Inishowen Motors, Kellys Toyota, McGinley Motors and DMG Motors.
So far the gyms/fitness centres signed up are Adam Speer, Aoife Mc Gill PT, MC Fitness, Ferry Fit, Mt.Errigal Leisure Centre, Hup Fitness and the ATU.
Relay for Life is the biggest cancer fundraising initiative across the world. It sees communities across the globe coming together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and stand shoulder to shoulder with those facing cancer. Relay For Life is a celebration of solidarity and helps to raise awareness of the services provided by the Irish Cancer Society locally and nationally.
To provide these services requires significant funding and as only approximately 5% of the Irish Cancer Societies Annual Funding comes from Government Funds, it depends on events such as Relay For Life Donegal to help raise the monies needed.
Obviously not everyone will be able to be present on the day, but donations can be made online through the following link https://www.relayforlife.ie/event/donegal/donate
Relay has something to offer everyone, so please do join us to find out more about this amazing event.
