Portsalon Golf Club was the setting for the 2023/24 President’s Prize in honour of Donegal ETB Chairperson, Cllr Dónal Coyle.
As the players made their way to the first tee box, they were met with a strong breeze blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean. Although the conditions were testing, the course was in its usual excellent condition with members remarking how perfect the fairways and greens were playing.
Margaret Harvey collected the President’s Prize with a tremendous score of 40 pts. Aidan Guthrie finished in 2nd place on 37 pts.
There was a three way tie for 3 rd place – Tommy Greally just edging it on a (B.O.T.) on 35pts with Myles Sweeney in 4 th ( B.O.T.) and Paddy McDaid in 5 th place.
After five events in the Golfer of the Year, the leaderboard has become a little tighter.
Éanna Ó Mainín still leads the way with a score of 79 pts, followed closely by Paddy McDaid on 70 pts. Myles Sweeney is on 66 pts with Aidan Guthrie in 4 th place on 59 pts. Tommy O’Neill and Tommy Greally complete the top six with 51 pts each.
In the Magnificent 7 Signature Hole competition, Aidan Guthrie has moved back to the top on 11pts. Éanna Ó Mainín and Paddy Kelly share 2nd place with 10 pts each, followed by Captain Elaine Russell on 9pts. Myles Sweeney and Paddy McDaid complete the top six with 8 pts each.
