Monsignor Eamonn McLaughlin has been installed as Canon of the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major, Rome
His Eminence Cardinal Stanislaw Rylko, The Cardinal Archbishop of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major’s, Rome installed Monsignor Eamonn McLaughlin, Undersecretary for the Dicastery for Clergy, who was appointed recently by Pope Francis as a canon of the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major.
This role involves spiritual and pastoral care of pilgrims and parishioners in one of the oldest papal Basilica’s in the West dedicated to Our Lady.
Carrigart-born Monsignor Eamonn was joined by his mother Mary, his family, many friends, clergy, and priests representing the Raphoe diocese.
The beautiful ceremony and investiture took place in the Basilica on Sunday evening with solemn Vespers and Mass.
“We wish Monsignor Eamonn Mc Laughlin every blessing in his new role,” said a spokesperson for the Raphoe Diocese.
