Can collection is a win-win for Donegal animal charity

Animals In Need Donegal (AIN) has launched a unique project to raise funds for their foster pets while also promoting environmental responsibility.

The initiative leverages the recently introduced Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), where the return of bottles and cans is worth between 15c and 25c.

With the DRS in full swing, AIN has set up a large bin in their store in Donegal Town for people to return their eligible bottles and cans.

AIN estimates that returning just three bottles or cans can provide a meal for one of their foster animals.

“Our hope is that the collection will be used for donating single bottles that people have just finished aswell as bulk donations,” a spokesperson said.

“All are very welcome. This is a win win for cleaner streets, greener environment and full pet bellies.”

The Animals in Need Charity Store is located between Specsavers and Aldi in the Carpark in Donegal Town, open 11-4pm Tuesday to Saturday.
