Crolly’s Eva McCafferty has a lot to celebrate this week – not only did she turn 12, but she was also appointed as an Honorary Garda of Bunbeg.
Eva celebrated her birthday in style yesterday and among the visitors was Garda Siobhan Campbell, who presented her with her Little Blue Hero uniform.
The celebration was filled with sunshine, family and friends.
The Gweedore region is lucky to have three brave Little Blue Heroes in the area, as Eva joins two outstanding boys of the community – Oisín Campbell and Rory McDevitt.
Born with complex needs, Eva’s positive spirit always shines through. The St Crona’s student is preparing for her Confirmation in May and she’ll have another big day out when she dons her new garda uniform for her Little Blue Hero graduation in the months to come.
Eva’s parents Sinead and Pearse have issued their thanks to everyone who made the birthday party and honorary appointment a day to remember.
Welcoming their newest recruit on Facebook, a Garda spokesperson said: “We can’t wait to get out and about with you Eva and you are very welcome to the Donegal Division! Happy Birthday!!!!!”
Congratulations and Happy Birthday Eva!
Little Blue Heroes is a charity established by Garda staff which aims to support local Gardaí in assisting families in need in their local communities who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for critical illness. A key initiative is the granting of children’s wishes to become Honorary Gardaí.
