Donegal will be cheering on two hopefuls in the Glór Tíre country music final tonight as Chelsea Evans and Jason McCahill compete for the opportunity of a lifetime.
The final will be broadcast live on TG4 at 9.30pm and will see five finalists vying for the coveted title.
Chelsea from Dunfanaghy has described her Glór Tíre journey as “surreal” and “overwhelming”, but also “the best experience and hopefully it’s not over yet”.
The young singer, who only turned 20 last month, but who already has an album and two EPs to her name, has impressed with her performances of songs by Lisa McHugh and Brett Young among others.
Jason from Ramelton has been singing in hotels and pubs since the age of 15, so to get the chance to perform and experience the show has been a dream come true.
Jason won the public vote to earn his place in the final and is excited to “go for the big one” this week.
Being mentored for Glór Tíre by rising Irish Country star, Claudia Buckley, along with strong solo performances of John Denver’s ‘Thank God I’m A Country Boy’ and Randy Travis’s ‘Three Wooden Crosses’, revealed a lively and engaging performer, with a strong and natural country voice. For the Grand Final, Jason promises to “go out with a bang no matter what”.
Eddie Rowley, Jó Ní Chéide agus Caitriona Ní Shuilleabháin are the judges seat for the Season 20 Grand Final. TR Dallas will also be treating viewers to a song.
