Rescue services were in action yesterday after a person injured their ankle at Sliabh Liag cliffs.
Donegal Mountain Rescue Team and Killybegs Coast Guard were both tasked to the call-out yesterday at 5.25pm. The casualty was located at a height of approximately 510 meters on the Pilgrim’s Path.
Due to the worsening condition of the injured hiker, the decision was made to request assistance from Rescue 118, the Irish Coast Guard helicopter.
Upon arrival at the scene, Rescue 118 personnel provided medical aid to the casualty before safely lifting them from the clifftop and transferring them to a hospital for further treatment.
A crew from the National Ambulance Service (NAS) was also present throughout the rescue operation.
