The 17 year old, who cannot be named, appeared before Judge Vincent Deane at a special sitting of Letterkenny District Court
The court heard that the young woman, with an address in Letterkenny, was arrested and made no reply when charged.
She was charged that on February 12th, 2023, at an address in Letterkenny, did knowingly have in her possession child pornography to wit 5 videos and 8 images.
The charge is Contrary to Section 6 (1) of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act, 1998.
The court was told that the Director of Public Prosecutions had instructed prosecution on indictment.
Solicitor Ms Alison Parke was granted legal aid for her client and asked for a short adjournment in the case to next Monday, April 22nd.
Gardai said they had no objections to bail on a couple of conditions.
They include that the young woman reside at a specific address given to the court and also to have no unsupervised access to social media.
