Oisín ‘Farah’ Gallen says he and his Donegal teammates are relishing the challenge of taking on Derry in Celtic Park on Saturday.
With Mickey Harte now at the helm, the current Division 1 champions are odds-on favourites to sweep aside Jim McGuinness’ young team and go on to win their third Ulster title in a row.
However, the MacCumhaills sharpshooter said he is really looking forward to the tussle in what should be a full house.
When Donegal Daily’s Charlie Collins pointed out that Derry are raging hot favourites, Farah replied ‘rightly so’.
He said Derry were on an upward trajectory while Donegal were coming from a ‘real slump’ in form.
“We’ve come from a real slump from last year and have been rebuilding since then, had a great league campaign and are looking forward to getting into Celtic Park,” he said.
He was also full of praise for the return of Jim McGuinness and his backroom team which includes All-Ireland winners Neil McGee and Colm McFadden.
“You have your expectations (of them) and they exceed them and you are willing to put your shoe down every week and every night at training. Now we are getting to the thick of it in the championship and that’s where you want to be.”
He said it’s been a frustrating few years for him with injuries, but has been doing everything he can to be ‘fresh and fit’ and is ready to go into battle on Saturday.
