Ballybofey teen Muireann Bradley has landed the Most Promising Act award from Hot Press Magazine.
The blues-folk musician joins a star-studded winners list this year, chosen by Hot Press readers, including Hozier, Grian Chatten, Fontaines D.C., Lankum and CMAT.
Welcoming the news, 17-year-old Muireann said: “Thank you very much to all the Hot Press readers who voted for me.”
Delving into ragtime, folk blues and roots, the finger picking guitar player and singer appeared on Jools’ Annual Hootenanny on New Year’s Eve. Following her appearance on the show, her album I Kept These Old Blues entered the top ten of the UK Albums Download Chart and she has racked up millions of views on YouTube. She credits her father for introducing her to the genres on her first record.
Muireann played a sold-out show in Whelan’s in Dublin on Saturday and will return to the capital for more sold-out gigs in May and July.
Muireann was also recently revealed in the line-up of a special series of Other Voices which is partnering with the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage to produce a live music series: Anam, filmed at four prestigious Irish heritage sites.
