Ballybofey singer-songwriter Shauna Scanlon has today released her second single.
‘If I Knew’ follows the huge success of her first song ‘Homebird’ which cemented her as a ‘one to watch’ in the Irish music scene. Both will be included on her upcoming EP which will be released shortly.
The Irish teacher has been singing and playing piano from a young age and honed her musical skills over the years, performing with the cover band New Romantics.
She has now decided to go solo and release her own original music for the first time.
“If I Knew is an anthem for anyone who has been wronged by someone they trusted,” Shauna explains.
“It talks about someone you know (a partner, friend or colleague) turning out to be the opposite of who you thought they were and regretting having ever met them. If I Knew is the perfect track to belt out in the car or in the shower and let out all your frustrations.”
The track is described as a refreshingly modern take on seventies funk, featuring a toe-tapping slap bass from Donegal musician Adam Ayres. Shauna’s powerful vocals give the track a neo-soul vibe while all elements are pulled together by producer Callum ‘Gordo’ Gordon.
‘If I Knew’ is available on all streaming sites from today, April 12.
