Vital refurbishment works are due to get underway at Rathmullan Pier next week.
Starting on Monday, the project is scheduled to be completed by November.
Contractors Cunninghams Civil and Marine have been appointed to the project, which will involve essential safety upgrades including the repair of the concrete uprights, replacement of beams and decks and new ducting.
The works will put the pier out of use for the construction period, however, access to the slipway and ferry service will be maintained under traffic management.
“These works are essential to secure the future of the pier and safety of all the pier users,” a council spokesperson said.
“We appreciate your understanding and support for the essential works to be carried out.”
