A person was rescued from the beach close to Carrickfinn this afternoon.

Bunbeg Coast Guard had been tasked to the scene to assist the National Ambulance Service after a person suffered a suspected lower limb fracture.

The incident happened south of the Boat Strand.

The casualty was treated at the scene before being transferred to the waiting Coast Guard helicopter who took the injured person to Letterkenny University Hospital.

A spokesperson for Bunbeg Coast Guard said “We’d like to wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
