Gardaí seized a car in Letterkenny yesterday after its driver was suspected of using a fraudulent licence and insurance disc.
Guards from Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit were on patrol when a car flagged on their ANPR system for having no insurance. The car was stopped and the documents were inspected.
“The insurance disc and the driving licence were suspected to be fraudulent and they were seized. The car was also seized. The matter will now be investigated further,” a garda spokesperson said.
Gardaí also warned those who decide to drive with no insurance that they will be taking a ‘massive risk’.
“If you decide to falsify documents then be assured that you will be found out. Do not drive if you have no insurance. Do not overestimate your computer skills either. Leave the creation of official documents to the correct relevant bodies.”
