DLDC’s Donegal Community Garden Network is delighted to announce it will be running its first ‘Pop-Up Garden Repair Café’ on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, from 1pm in Cara House in Letterkenny.
This free event aims to revitalise worn-out garden tools, gloves, furniture, and more, promoting sustainability and community engagement.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their tired or broken garden items for expert repair and to enjoy a friendly atmosphere of skill-sharing.
Supported by Donegal Local Development’s SICAP programme, this Pop-Up Garden Repair Café is an example of DLDC’s focus on climate action, environmental stewardship while creating social inclusion.
Joanne Butler, Climate Action Officer at DLDC, said: “The Pop-Up Garden Repair Café embodies the spirit of sustainability and mutual support. It’s about coming together to extend the lifespan of our beloved garden essentials while creating meaningful connections within our community. As a keen gardener myself, I have lots of old worn-out tools that I really don’t want to throw away, these tools will get a second life with a little bit of TLC and that’s exactly what this repair café is all about.”
The network also welcomes skilled individuals interested in contributing their repair talents. Joanne invites volunteers to reach out to her directly to get involved. If you would like to bring your garden tool to the Repair Café or would like to volunteer, please contact Joanne Butler, Climate Action Officer, DLDC, jbutler@dldc.org / 0860140637
