Rannafast aquawoman Elaine Boyle proudly presented €14,290.48 to Dungloe Community Hospital this week following a hugely successful swimming challenge.
Elaine completed 100 days of sea swimming last month to raise funds for the local Patient Comfort Fund.
Elaine received massive support from friends and family as she braved the boatstrand in all weathers.
“I will never be able to thank everyone for their kind donations , encouragement and support over the 100 days,” she said following the cheque presentation on Wednesday.
“I would never have been able to do it however without the support of my amazing group of swimmers in “The Dauntless Dippers” who stayed with me day in and day out . My wonderful family who had to put with me saying “No sorry I have to go for a swim” and my Boss Donagh O’ Sullivan in Annagry Pharmacy who allowed me to collect the donations in the chemist and the extended lunch breaks and late starts for my swims.”
And she hasn’t hung up the dry robe just yet!
The benefits of swimming are too good to stop, according to Elaine, who has gained better physical and mental health, as well as losing 4 stone since her challenge began.
Elaine said: “Needless to say I haven’t stopped swimming yet and have no intentions of stopping for another while it a brought a whole new injection of energy and calmness into my life that has changed so many things for the better so if you have ever wanted to try this crazy swimming thing then just do it. At the Boatstrand, Carrickfinn everyone is welcome no judgement and loads of crack, not forgetting to mention the tea.”
