Donegal quartet Onóir unveiled their stunning new single to the nation this week, winning another legion of fans across the country.
The band had their first TV performance on RTE’s Today programme on Tuesday.
Although missing original member Declan Gaughan, fiddle player Damien McGeehan ably filled his place.
It’s hard to believe that this original song “Take it From Me” was written five days ago, as Diarmaid admits!
If you missed it, you can watch it back now:
In the lead up to St Patrick’s Day, the Today programme has been placing a special focus on Irish music talent.
Diarmaid McGee explained Onóir’s origin story to Dáithí Ó Sé, saying that they are a product of the lockdown, who never sang or played a note of music together.
The band were two duos, who then decided to make a video combining their styles. Their recording of The Auld Triangle went viral, and now the band is selling out concert halls and has a Stateside tour planned in August around the Irish festivals.
The group is made up of full-time members Tom McHugh, Declan Gaughan, Deane Connaghan, and Diarmaid McGee, with many more talented guests joining their shows.
If you’d like to hear more Onóir, tune into their Facebook page on Friday night at 8pm for a St. Patrick’s Day live special.
