A Letterkenny woman has been introduced as Donegal’s new solicitor.
Margaret Mary Sheridan, from Glencar, was welcomed to Letterkenny District Court earlier this week.
Formerly with Liddy/Scollan Solicitors, Ms Sheridan has now joined O’Gorman Solicitors in the Cathedral Town.
She was officially welcomed to the court by Kieran O’Gorman.
Referring to the fact that Ms Sheridan came from Liddy/Scollan, Mr O’Gorman told Judge Ciaran Liddy that “I doubt if there is much more I can teach her.”
Mum-of-two Ms Sheridan was joined in court by her engineer husband Darren as well as her proud parents Elizabeth and Hugh McCauley.
Judge Liddy told the court that he was delighted to welcome Ms Sheridan to the court.

He said “Colleagues, ladies and gentlemen, today marks a wonderful occasion as we introduce a bright and formidable addition to our legal community.
“It is a great personal honour for me to welcome Mrs. Margaret Sheridan solicitor to this Court along with her parents Hugh and Elizabeth McCauley and her husband Darren.
“This is a young woman of remarkable talent, dedication to her profession with a strong work ethic.
“Mrs. Sheridan has persevered through her third level education at the Atlantic Technological University, her F.E.1s and her Blackall examinations all the while caring for her family and attending to her work commitments.
“Mrs. Sheridan comes here today with much experience gathered through her employment in a variety of solicitor’s offices.
“Ms Sheridan’s legal career peaked when she was employed by the distinguished office of Liddy Scollan Solicitors. Having survived that experience, Mrs. Sheridan now stands before you in the company of practitioners of the highest calibre.
“Mrs. Sheridan will learn from her new colleagues and build her own career drawing on her many wonderful attributes.
“Mrs. Sheridan, I wish you the very best in your legal career and I hope the law is as good to you as it has been to me. Congratulations on your achievement and the very best to you in the future.”
Ms Sheridan told the court that she was looking forward to practising as a solicitor after many years of study.
She said “First and foremost, I would like to thank my family and friends. This journey would not have been possible if it was not for all their support. I would like to say a special thank you to my training Solicitor, Alice Scollan, and to Judge Liddy for all their guidance this past few years.
“It was an honour and a privilege to work alongside you both. Finally, I am looking forward to the future and to working alongside my new colleagues in Kieran O’Gorman Solicitors and I have no doubt that Mr. O’Gorman will keep me on the right path.”
Judge Eiteain Cunningham also asked to be associated with the remarks in welcoming Ms Sheridan to the court.
