Here is everything you need to know about next weekend’s Dunkineely St Patrick’s Parade.
The parade will go down Main Street, this Saturday, starting at 3:30pm.
Please line the streets to cheer on the floats as they pass. This promises to be a great afternoon out for all. Remember, we are a small town with a big parade! There will also be pizza and fish and chips available. The pubs will be laying on their own entertainment.
Parking is available on Saturday at the Mart (54.6327, -8.3600). Please do not park on the main street.
Prizes include:
€200 prize for best float/group.
€100 prize to the club/school with the best show (16 and under).
€50 for the best Sheelagh fancy dress.
Participants in the parade are invited to join us by 3pm.
Those on foot should meet at the Dunkineely Community Centre car park. All vehicles should head to the Naomh Ultan GAA carpark.
All are welcome and floats are free to enter.
There will be delays on Dunkineely Main Street between 3:30 and 4:30pm. So, please plan an alternative route where possible. A diversion will be sign posted between Bruckless and Inver via Crough.
Parking for the parade will be available at the Mart in central Dunkineely. Take the turn off Main Street towards Castlefeane and parking is through the gates on the right. Please arrive in plenty of time for the parade. We would also ask that people avoid parking on Main Street.
Bug Hotel
New housing for bugs (below) appeared in Bruckless Community Park on Saturday, ready for the insects that are starting to come out of hibernation.
Pop along and see it for yourself, or join us on 13 th April for a talk and to help us decorate their new home. A big thanks to our volunteer builders; Manus Boyle, Barry Boyle, Paul Kelly, Gabriel Breslin, Kathleen Breslin, Janet Deane, and several little helpers came along on the day. Also, to Changemakers for funding.
