Shawn Cuddy has been honoured for his amazing work with elderly residents in Donegal.
The renowned singer was honoured with a Municipal Reception by the Members of Lifford Stranorlar Municipal District at County House in Lifford.
The reception was held in recognition of the remarkable achievement of Shawn as a Country Music Artist and his tremendous act of kindness to those residing in care homes during the Pandemic.
Patsy Lafferty, Director of Housing, Corporate and Cultural Services welcomed Shawn and his wife Roberta, together with family and friends.
Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr. Martin Harley praised the work carried out by Shawn in the Sean O’Hare Unit in Stranorlar and the benefits this had on the residents, he said ‘music has no boundaries or language barriers’.
Cathaoirleach of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District, Cllr. Liam Doherty thanked Shawn for his musical contribution to the County and for bringing life and soul to the local care homes through his music and entertainment.
Cllr. Patrick McGowan said ‘it was a pleasure proposing the reception.”
He further added that ‘Shawn’s heroism through the pandemic was phenomenal’ and ‘brought joy to the residents in Brentwood Manor, Convoy.’

Cllr. Gerry Crawford paid tribute to Shawn whilst remembering those that are not with us today.
Shawn spoke about his career journey and how it led to working in care homes and thanked all involved.
A video message from Daniel O’Donnell was played and his apologies conveyed for not being able to attend the celebration.
The Elected Members presented Shawn with the official document of the Civil Honour and wished him well in the future.
