Hollywood star Jason Momoa has said that touring Ireland (and Donegal!) in a campervan searching for the perfect pint was the best holiday ever.
The ‘Aquaman’ actor recently reflected on a time before his fame, when he was filming ‘Game of Thrones’ in Northern Ireland in 2011.
Momoa said he had a month off from filming but could not afford to fly home to the States, so he and his producer friend Brian Andrew Mendoza decided to rent a van and tour Ireland’s pubs.
That no-frills tour still stands out in his memory.
“I had a month off and me and my buddy got a cargo van and some camping gear,” Momoa told BBC’s The One Show.
“It was the time of my life and I just went from pub to pub like Doolin and Dingle trying to find the best pint of Guinness.”

Momoa shared photos of his travels to Donegal on Instagram a number of years ago, writing about “beautiful amazing Ireland.”
His discovery? The Guinness is perfect everywhere.
“So many wonderful people and stories I treasure those times It was the simplest moments I remember the most,” he said.
After his performance as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, Momoa went on to become a Hollywood name and starred in Aquaman. His recent blockbusters include ‘Fast X’ and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’
