Today is the first ‘National Slow Down Day’ of 2024.
This co-ordinated day-of-action is aimed at preventing speeding and reducing the number of people being killed on roads in Ireland.
In the first 59 days of 2024, 36 people have been killed in fatal road traffic collisions on Irish roads. That is four more lives than on this day last year.
In the first two hours of National Slow Down Day, GoSafe detected 33 vehicles travelling in excess of the speed limit.
